Near the beginning of the Covid pandemic Donald Smith approached me with an idea he was pursuing about picture books depicting a variety of critters. Don, Marilyn Helmer and I started writing and creating a fun way to inform children and adults alike about the world of wonderful creatures.

The illustrated books have gone on to receive many five-star reviews, and a good number of children’s book awards including “Series of the Year” from Creative Child Awards, a prestigious children’s magazine.

Because of the positive response we have received from teachers using our books in classroom settings we have decided to expand by developing Critter Learning for the classroom. This is an exciting project for us that will be available in 2025.

As the illustrator of these books I strive to portray the critters in realistic activities with the backgrounds showing their environments. We hope you enjoy Critter Learning. It will keep us busy writing and illustrating many new educational and informative stories about the critters we share this tiny blue planet with.
